stapferhaus – Human Nature
Exhibition in the European Museum of the Year
The Stapferhaus in Lenzburg has made a name for itself far beyond Switzerland's borders with exhibitions on socially relevant topics and was recently named European Museum of the Year. For the exhibition on the theme of nature, Georg Lendorff created a room-filling video installation that shows manifestations of nature on hanging fabric panels and 3 large screens.
The projections create a surprising immersive experience and, accompanied by interviews and music, explore various forms of interaction between man and nature. A 42-minute visual and thematic journey for which Georg Lendorff shot at various locations and assembled a film installation for 15 projectors. The scenography was created by the renowned Dutch studio Kossmanndejong.
The interviews with people who experience or produce nature in their everyday lives or professions, juxtaposed with calm nature shots, are outstanding. People like Balzer Arpagaus, who produces artificial snow for ski slopes and talks about "technical snow" to pictures of snowflakes, which is "more compact" than the heavenly snow with its many air pockets.
