Electric Field — Georg Lendorff

Electric Field – Light Art Grindelwald

Installation for the Light Art Festival in Grindelwald

Grindelwald at the foot of the Eiger North Face gained international prominence early on, thanks to luxurious hotels and a network of mountain railways. Grindelwald has lived off tourism and the surrounding nature for generations. At the same time, however, construction activity repeatedly threatens to suffocate the village and calls the community's identity into question.

Electric Field moves along the rupture of building activity and nature, untouched mountain world and human intervention.

For his installation, Georg Lendorff distributed 80 guide beacons on the newly constructed village square above an underground car park.

Taking advantage of the optical properties of the high-reflective foils, he brought the beacons to life at night, igniting a firework display of peculiar beauty and absurdity in front of the famous Eiger North Face.
