Mass der Dinge — Georg Lendorff

Salzburger festspiele – The Shape of Things

Neil LaBute

German debut of the successful play "The Shape of Things" by Neil LaBute in a co-production of Salzburger Festspiele and Burgtheater Wien.

The stage consists of 4 movable partitions connected by hinges. In permanent interaction with the video projections, different spatial situations and emotional conditions are generated.

The Shape of Things won the Young Director Award, and Georg Lendorff and Igor Bauersima are nominated for the Nestroy Award for best stage design.

Excellent videos, extraordinary directing, fabulous actors, a well written piece. Igor Bauersima has staged this zeitgeisty foursome of young intellectuals in a creative and highly intelligent manner. Appropriately Bauersima has tailored a stage to suit both the play and the venue, the Stadtkino Cinema, depicting the concrete respectively symbolic soul-setting by means of video. That is fascinating, convincing and wonderfully simple.
